HOME FOR LIFE DOG SCULPTURE

Todd and I sponsored a Home for Life dog sculpture which is displayed at the Mall of America outside of Nordstrom until January 2nd.  Of course we did the Newfie!
Different artists painted all the dogs - we like what she did with ours - its not too crazy and is simple yet colorful.  We don't know what we are going to do with it yet cause its huge!!

TRise and Shine at Home for Life's 2nd Annual Doggone Early Dogwalk at Mall of America

Supporter Todd with his Newfie SailorHome for Life's Doggone Early Dogwalk raised nearly $10,000 for the animals at Home for Life. Thank goodness for day-light savings time! Maybe the additional hour of sleep accounted for the extra turnout for the event which made for a fun morning to support Home for Life. Supporters were treated to Caribou coffee and cider and browsed metro area pet vendor displays before getting their dog's photo with Santa. Supporters and their dogs were accompanied by fun dog themed music for their walk around Nickelodeon Park led by Grand Marshall Sven Sundgaard and Home for Life's Sebastian. Afterward, dog trainers got everyone into the act by teaching a dog trick that could be easily mastered at home, and prizes were awarded to dogs in several categories including the dog who most looked like their owner!

HALLOWEEN 2010

Got Sailor a stuffed Pumpkin for Halloween.  He likes just putting it in his mouth but doesn;t chew it up. 

Renaissance Fest

Sailor gets SO much attention at the Renaissance Festival. We bought a collar for him at an artfest (he doesnt mind it).  I love this photo as we were in a "pub" and a band was singing and playing in the background. Also, he fell asleep in the wine bar. . . .

Sailor's new buddy

Our friend, Britt became a foster mom for a dog rescued from Kentucky.  On the day that she had to drive the dog to the adopt-a-pet event, she realized she couldn't give her up.  So, now named "Carrie' from Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City, she's a permanent fixure in Britt's life and a new friend of Sailor's.

SAILOR IS 2 YEARS-OLD!

Sailor turned 2 on September 24th.  He got lots of treats, a bone from the Canine Club and some new toys.  He immediately chewed up a new tennis ball!

HEARTBREAKING LOSS OF OSA

Sorry friends that I have not been keeping up with my blog over the last few weeks. We had the unexpected loss of our beloved dog, Osa on July 17th after 14 wonderful years (she was 15 1/2).  We thought for sure we would definitely have her for a while longer so when we took her to the vet that day , we did not know that we wouldn't be coming home without her.  Long story short, they found a tumor in her chest that was constricting her breathing and one of her lungs.  Along with the arthritis in her spine, the vet said she only had 1 -3 months longer, so we had to make the decision that we dreaded when we starting seeing the signs of her demise into old age.  She had a great life with us (we hope) and now we know she is chasing rabbits in Doggie Heaven.  Osa, we love and miss you!!!

SAILOR'S BIG BONES AND BALL

The Twin cities has a lot of different art fests and festivals and most of them are dog friendly.  We took Sailor to the Stone Arch Art Festival in June, 2010.  We saw the Science Diet Dog booth and loved that they had these giant bones and ball.  Just his size.  He had a blast and was so exhausted that night from all the petting he got!

 

POSTCARD FROM CANADA

My co-worker Tanya sent this postcard from Newfoundland, Canada where she stopped on her way to London.  It was really awesome that she thought to write this and mail it to me!

EAGLE IN THE TREE

THIS WAS WORTH POSTING CAUSE IT WAS AMAZING TO SEE THIS EAGLE SITTING PEACEFULLY IN A TREE.  HIS WING SPAN MUST HAVE BEEN 6 FEET.  HE WAS AMAZING TO SEE.

PORTER AT THE HELM

THIS IS OUR FRIEND JIM ON THE BOAT ON DEVIL'S LAKE.  SAILOR HAD TAKEN A SWIM BEFORE WE TOOK A RIDE, SO HE IS SOAKED.  PORTER LIKES TO TAKE THE HELM.

At the cabin on Devil's Lake, Wisconsin, Lulu plays with Sailor although he is 4 times his side.  She saus, "Silly Sailor".  Here Sailor is trying to help her play with her toys.

DEVIL'S LAKE, WI WITH JIM AND CHRISTINE

Sailor has a great time with his buddy Porter on Devil's Lake, Wisconsin.  He still won't jump off the dock, but tries to race Porter for the toy bu running back to the front of the dock and getting in the water from shore. 

We "walked" Osa and Sailor when Ina and Sarah  were here.  Osa actaully doesn't walk very fact although she still LOVES her walks.  Sailor is lazy, so he doesn't move very quickly

Randall and Roman are our neighbors and they like to come visit Sailor on occasion.  Sailor is almost bigger than Roman!

A VISIT FROM INA AND SARAH

It was so awesome to have my sister Ina and niece Sarah visit us over Memorial weekend (2010).  We had a great time and Sailor and Osa liked spending time with them.  Here we were on a car ride. 

OSA IN THE CRATE

THE SWEETEST THING. . . .OSA HAS BEEN GOING IN SAILOR'S CRATE AT NIGHT AND SLEEPING THERE.  SHE LOOKS LITTLE IN THERE COMPARED TO HIM. SO CUTE AND SHE SEEMS TO COMFY TOO!
