Blew up the Crate on his birthday

It's Sailor's 10 month birthday but that doesn't mean he was a good boy!  (He weighs 103.8 lbs too). That evening, Todd and I went to dinner for 2 hours and when we walked in the door, Sailor was standing there, all happy and waggy.
Uh Oh!
So, so did he get out of his crate?  Well, here's the proof - It was as if the crate blew up from the inside and there were feathers everywhere and a lamp and side table were knocked over.  He had ripped open some of my (of course) fav orange pillows as well.
Mia the cat had to go investigate too as she probably couldn't believe it either. . . It's not even as if we had left him home all day in his crate and he was bored, as he had been to day care.  Todd should have taken a photo of my face since my jaw hit the floor when I saw this.  We put the crate back together so we'll see how it goes next time cause he still can't be trusted in the house alone for obvious reasons!

All in the Family

Todd's mom Fran and his niece Jessica (who is 17) came from Maryland to visit last week.  It was great to see them and we had a lot of fun.  Of course, Sailor had to greet Todd and Jessica when they came back from kayaking. He also hung out with Fan on the beach.  He always has to be in on the action!

Reflecting

This is such an awesome photo of Sailor at the end of the dock all by himself.  He just seems to be reflecting on (his great) life like the rest of us do.

Visitors

Sailor loves greeting visitors who come by.  Sometimes they even come more to see him than us!  Here he is with Anita (look how big he is!) under the umbrella on our beach.   He is also being visited by Nic's friends, Kevin and Lisa from Charlotte.  Their daughter, Karis is the first one to ride Sailor!

Sailor loves Summer

Summer has been great for Sailor learning how to swim.  He loves this "extended" tennis ball on a rope and loves to run in the water and get it.  At first he would just go in up to his belly and not swim, but now he swims out to the dock.  He still won't go much further, but that's cool with Todd and I as we don't want him swimming out too far.  We love watching him run in and play.  It's so sweet!    He looks a little like the Loch Ness Monster too when he's in the wa

Cesar

This is Cesar the Mastiff who belongs to Tanya Dreesen and her family. When Tanya told me the story about Cesar and the present he brought home, I knew I had to put it on the blog. Apparently, he brought this deer leg home as a gift when he found the carcass in the woods. When she heard Cesar scratch at the door, she was so shocked to discover what he had in his mouth, the look on her face must have been priceless! Not the reaction he was expecting her to have that's for sure which shows in his face. She had the foresight to grab a camera (great job!) and got this shot. Tanya later found out that a deer had actually died behind their neighbors property so Cesar had nothing to do with anything except wanting to bring her a present.

Friends at Day Care

Todd and I stopped by Sailor's day care last week Friday (we had off for the 4th of July weekend) to watch him play and swim. It was a riot watching him in action. He is sweet and kind of hangs back and is definitely not an aggressive dog. He hangs out with a few specific dogs like Bella the Golden Doodle (pictured in the pool) and Noah the year-old Newfie (pictured). In fact the day we stopped by, it was Noah's birthday and he was turning one year-old (Sailor is 9 1/2 months). The hilarious thing is that he is not fixed and was trying to mount all the girl dogs and the day care folks kept having to break it up every 2 minutes. Noah was trying to be very subtle about it too but it wasn't working - we could see what he was up to! Todd told him they should let him get it on since it was his 1 year birthday! In the attached picture, Noah is the one with the white on his chest (and the bigger head).
Attached are some cute pics of them all tugging on a a rope. Daisy is the lighter colored Doodle in the groups shots and another friend of Sailor's. She doesn't mess around either - she will take a tennis right out of Sailor's mouth.

Sick Dog

Sailor came home from Day Care on Tuesday and right away had diarrhea, ate and then threw it all up. We were worried all night cause he kept running outside to go potty and it was really runny like water - I know too much information! We debated taking him to the emergency vet, but then he went into the bathroom, stretched out and fell asleep so we didn't want to wake him. We didn't really sleep much though as we were worried every time we heard him move around that he had to run outside and go. He did have an accident in the bathroom and Todd - bless him - cleaned it up or I prob would have thrown up! Osa was scheduled for her dental cleaning the next morning and to get checked for her urinary track infection that she had just taken antibiotics for, so we took Sailor in with her.
The result is that they think he has colitis, so they gave him some pills to take. He seemed much better last night. Also, poor Osa had a tooth extracted as it was cracked and probably causing her some pain. We felt bad last night as she was whining although we tried to comfort her.

Getting Big

Someone is outgrowing his bed!

Peek-a-Boo

Sailor was playing peek-a-boo over the outdoor deck couch with me. He thought it was funny that he could hide and them jump up. Just like a kid.
